| Pushkar,
the holy city is located just about 11 km from Ajmer. Along the
picturesque Pushkar Lake lies the town of Pushkar with religious
significance. Pushkar is one of the important pilgrimage city for
Hindus. The main attraction of Pushkar is the Pushkar Lake and the
temple of God Brahma. The Hindu devotees believe that no pilgrimage
is considered complete without a dip in the holy Pushkar lake. The
climate of Pushkar is moderate. In Summers, the temperature is
around 38.1º Celsius and in winters it is around 5.5º Celsius.
Hindi, Rajasthani, Marwari and English are the common languages

History of Pushkar |
Pushkar
is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre. This city is believed
to have been created by God Brahma, the creator of the Universe
in the Hindu religion. The only temple of God Brahma is also
situated in Pushkar. This city is the most famous pilgrimage
city like Varanasi or Puri. The Hindu devotees believe that it
is essential to visit Pushkar at least once in the lifetime.
Pushkar has become famous in the world due to its Pushkar
Festival which takes place in the month of November.

Day 1:
Jaipur - Pushkar (about 145 km)
In the morning arrive at Jaipur airport or railway station. Upon arrival in Jaipur you will be met by our representative and drive to Pushkar. Pushkar is one of the most famous and important pilgrimage city for Hindus. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in Pushkar. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2:
Pushkar
Today we have full day sightseeing in Pushkar. In the morning we visit the God Brahma temple. This is the only one temple of God Brahma which is situated in Pushkar. After visiting the temple we visit the Pushkar Lake. The Pushkar Lake is the other main tourist attraction of Pushkar. This lake is believed to have been created by God Brahma himself. There are about 400 temples and 52 Ghaats which are located on the banks of the Pushkar Lake. In the afternoon we have lunch at Pushkar Palace. In the evening we visit the local bazaars of Pushkar.
Day 3: Pushkar -
Jaipur (about 145 km)
After having breakfast drive to Jaipur. Transfer to the
airport or railway station.

Day
1: Flight to India (Delhi)
Around midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan city and capital New Delhi is the main gateway for the
travelers to India. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day
2: Delhi - Nawalgarh
In the morning drive from Delhi to
Nawalgarh in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. Nawalgarh
is known for the havelis of its wealthy merchant class,
the Marwaris. The drive to Shekhawati is through
picturesque village and farms. Nawalgarh was founded in
1737 AD by Thakur Nawal Singh, a warrior statesman. The
town exudes an old world charm and the colourful bazaar
has the largest number of painted Havelis in Shekhawati.
In the late afternoon meet up at the stables, where the
riders will be introduced to the safari team and the
lovely ‘Marwari’ horses and can also have a ride. The
riding leader Shri Devendra singh will advise about the
horses and give the details about the tour and
introduction talk on the arid region ecology.
Day 3: Nawalgarh
In the morning you will ride on the horses to the country
side. In the afternoon you will visit the havelies.
Day 4: Nawalgarh -
Parasrampura - Lohargal (about 32 kms.)
In the morning you will start with your horse safari to
Lohargal. You will follow a dry riverbed with lots of
Acacia bushes. The view of Aravali ranges makes the ride
very scenic. In the afternoon you will have lunch near
Parasrampura. After lunch you will move towards the
Aravali mountains. At the foothills of Aravalli’s is the
Pilgrim town of Lohargal. It is said Bhima the strongest
of the five Pandav brothers, had his mace cast here.
Hence, ‘Lohargal’, means iron smelting. This is also a
place of Hindu pilgrimage.
Day 5: Lohargal -
Rewasa - Sujas (about 38 kms.)
In the morning you will ride towards Danta following the
Aravali mountains down a dry riverbed till Raghunathgarh.
The stone quarries of Raghunathgarh have resulted in deep
ravines. Riding through them is a great experience. On the
way, you can have lunch. Later cross the highway and leave
the Sikar district and ride towards a large marshy tract
with Salt Pans. In the evening reach the campsite which is
on a flat area. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 6: Sujas -
Kochor - Sulyas (Ramgarh) (about 35 kms.)
Today you will have horse safari from Sujas to Sulyas and
pass through semi desert region with lots of Khejri trees
and some farmhouses with mud huts. On the way, you will
have lunch at Kochor Village. The ride goes past the
Roopgarh fort and mountain pass. Overnight stay at the
camp.
Day 7: Sulyas -
Ghatwa - Shyamgarh (about 42 kms.)
Today you will have horse safari from Sulyas to shyamgarh.
On the way, you will pass through village Ghatwa. Here a
famous battle had taken place between Rao Shekha and Gour
Rajputs, where twenty five thousand men laid their lives.
This place is still known as Godati or the area of Gaurs,
the erstwhile rulers. From a high sand dune adjoining the
mountain ranges, you can have a breathtaking view of the
five famous forts of this region. Overnight stay at the
camp.
Day 8: Shyamgarh -
Bhagwanpura - Nawa Salt Lake (about 42 kms.)
In the morning, you will ride towards Nawa Salt Lake. This
ride is the most picturesque part of this Safari. After
lunch you can have ride around this salt lake and enjoy
the beautiful sunset. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 9: Nawa Salt lake
- Salemabad (about 45 kms.)
Today you will ride through the Salt Lake for 8 to 10 km
and then follow a stony track along mountain ranges till
Paner, where you will have your lunch. After having lunch
you will ride to farming and Sheep County to reach your
camp at Salemabad. This was the territory of the erstwhile
Maharaja State of Kishangarh. The remaining Ajmer region
was ruled directly by the British. Overnight stay at the
camp.
Day 10: Salemabad -
Babicha - Mayapur (about 35 kms.)
Today you will ride through a more fertile land. Most
farmers are from Gujar community with colourful dresses.
After having lunch, you will ride into a valley and pass
through a mountain pass and ravines to reach your last
campsite. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day
11: Mayapur - Charanwas - Pushkar (about 30 kms.)
Today you will ride till Pushkar. Pushkar is famous for
typical Pink Indian roses that have a strong aroma. In the
afternoon you will reach Pushkar. Pushkar is known for the
famous Pushkar fair which takes place in November. During
this fair, traders and pilgrims visit Pushkar for
livestock and camel trading and other festivities. This
fair ends when the people gather at dawn to take a dip in
the holy waters on the night of the Full Moon (Kartik
Poornima). Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 12: Pushkar
In Pushkar enjoy the horse riding. Overnight stay at the
camp.
Day 13: Pushkar -
Delhi
In the morning drive to Delhi. In the evening you will
reach Delhi and transfer to the airport for the flight to
home destination.

Pushkar Lake
|

The
picturesque lake of Pushkar is set in a valley just about
11 kilometers northwest of Ajmer. Pushkar Lake is
surrounded by hills on three sides and desert on the other
side. The cave of Saint Agastya is also located on the
snake mountain in Pushkar. Pushkar has also held a major
place in the Kalidasa's Sanskrit drama, Abhigyan
Shakuntalam. Pushkar is one of the major sacred places for
the Hindus. There are about 400 temples and 52 Ghaats in
Pushkar which are located on the banks of the Pushkar
Lake. On the Pushkar lake you can view various pilgrims
bathing in the holy waters and worshipping at the Ghaats.
It is believed that the famed waters of the Pushkar wash
away the sins of lifetime. So thousands of pilgrims come
to Pushkar on Kartik Purnima (full moon day of the Kartik
month) or on any of the four days preceding it and take a
bath in the holy waters of the lake. The mystical water is
also believed to cure skin diseases, making Pushkar "the
Lourdes of the East". |

History
of Pushkar Lake
There is a
great story about the creation of the Pushkar Lake by the
Creator God, Bramha. When the demon Vajra Nabha killed
Brahma's children, he in turn struck him with his weapon,
a lotus flower. Vajra Nabha died with the impact, and the
petals of the lotus fell at three places. One of them is
Pushkar, where a lake sprung into being. Brahma is
supposed to have performed sacrifice at this lake on
Kartik Purnima (the full moon day of the Kartik month).
According to a legend, the lake was formed when Lord
Brahma wanted to perform a yagna here. |

Brahma Temple
Pushkar is the
only pilgrimage shrine dedicated to Lord Brahma in all over India.
The Brahma temple is an important pilgrimage centre for the Hindus
which is situated in Pushkar. This temple is situated in the
beautiful Pushkar valley which lies beyond Nagaparvat and the
Anasagar lake. This place holds a special place in the hearts of
Indians as it is believed that Lord Brahma, together with all the
gods and goddesses, performed a Yagya here. In the Brahma temple
the image of Lord Brahma is in a seated Palthi position. This
temple is built by marble and decorated with silver turtle on the
floor of the temple. |

Other
places in Pushkar
There are about 400
temples and 52 Ghaats in Pushkar which are located on the banks of the
Pushkar Lake. There are five principal temples in Pushkar, all are
constructed recently since the earlier buildings were destroyed by the
Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The major temples are Rangnath temple,
Mahalakshmi temple, Godamba temple. There are various other temples of
God Vishnu, Atmeshvara, Gayatri and Savitri.
The Rangnath temple has been built in southern style and is simply
magnificent. Its images are almost true of life. This temple has an
image of Lord Vishnu, life size dwarpals (door men) and Garuda pillars
showing the mythical bird styled in gold. |

Pushkar Fair (November) |
| Pushkar
is also the venue of one of the country's most colourful cattle fairs
- the Pushkar Festival. Pushkar Festival takes place in the month of
November when the whole of Pushkar is transformed into a spectacular
fair ground. During this festival thousands of pilgrims come to bath
in the holy water of Pushkar lake and the biggest cattle and camel
markets take place here where farmers, breeders and camel traders buy
and sell. During this festival there is horse dealing, camel racing,
cattle trading and colorful festivities. This annual fair is an
unforgettable event when the entire small town of Pushkar is visited
by over lakhs of animals and tourists. The Rajasthan Tourist
Development Corporation (RTDC) has also promoted the festival by
putting up various dance and music programmes and other cultural
events and by providing the accommodation in tents to the Indian and
foreign tourists. |
